KOMPASS · How KOMPASS measures website activity

Privacy, without the interruption.

We use limited, first-party server statistics to understand which pages and languages are useful and to improve the website’s technical performance. There is no analytics pop-up, advertising tracker or analytics cookie.

For successful public-page requests, the server increments daily counters for page, displayed language, broad device category, approximate country and a server-response timing band. One fixed country-by-page-language breakdown helps us improve translated content. Country is supplied by the hosting network from the connection—not GPS or nationality. These totals are not individual visitor profiles.

The statistics contain no raw IP addresses, names, email addresses, messages, full browser headers, referrer URLs or query strings. We do not store visitor IDs, follow journeys, measure reading time or match browsing to enquiries. The private dashboard shows exact page-request counters and separately labelled daily and reporting-period IP estimates, without individual activity records.

To estimate audience size, the network address briefly updates grouped statistical counters. We save neither the address nor a list of individual codes. A daily estimate and a separate total estimate distinguish repeat requests across up to 90 days; neither is linked to pages, countries, languages or enquiries. Random keys are unique to this site. The daily key expires at midnight UTC; overlapping keys for the total rotate every 90 days and expire after 180 days. Calculation records cover at most 90 days. Expired keys and records are deleted on the next statistics or report request, not by a scheduled timer; hosting backups have separate retention. Shared or changing addresses and statistical approximation mean these are not counts of people or sessions.

Counters are used only for operating and improving KOMPASS. Reports cover up to 90 days, with expired records removed on the next collection or report request. Earlier consent-based analytics are no longer collected or reported and expire under their original 90-day limit.

This limited measurement supports our legitimate interest in maintaining a useful, reliable website. You can object below. We also respect previous refusals, Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Excluding a browser stores only a necessary preference cookie for one year; deleting cookies removes that preference.

Your enquiry and email correspondence are handled separately so Sabine can respond. The private inbox uses a necessary login cookie; a language cookie remembers an explicit language choice. The website is hosted through OpenAI Sites on Cloudflare infrastructure, and enquiry email is handled by Resend and Namecheap Private Email. Hosting providers may process connection/security logs separately from these aggregate statistics.
